Are You Afraid of the Dark is a level-one demo of a game that uses light and dark mechanics.
At first, players are forced to explore their environment in the dark with little information presented to them. When they stumble upon a short-lived light switch, they are given a few seconds to survey their surroundings and strategize. After that, they have to plunge out into the darkness with little more than their memory and their trust.
Subsequent levels of the game will include elements like moving platforms and lights that only illuminate small sections of the level, thus requiring more advanced strategy.
