THE EXPERIENCE

Yuxa is an interactive installation that my team, Brownian Motion, is building in 2018 and 2019.
Yuxa is a light sculpture of two intertwining snakes that invites participants to bring the creatures to life.

By reacting to people's movements through mesmerizing visuals, lights, and sound,
Yuxa encourages participants to explore and become creators of something visually stunning and unique.

HOW IT WORKS

The installation is essentially a motion capture  and  visual projection system that uses a Kinect to detect participants' motions.
Through TouchDesigner software, their movements trigger mind-bending visuals that are projected onto
three Plexiglas screens for a surreal, translucent effect.

Below are images of the CAD model I designed for my team. (Scroll to the bottom for a video.)

Side angle of the two serpents, showing the ribs undulating in and out of the ground.

The central projection screen, surrounded by ribs which participants can walk through.

Back in 2017, Brownian Motion built the initial prototype called Lumokinesis, which used a Kinect, projection screen, and stage.
This year, we wanted the experience to be even more immersive, so we're transforming the stage into a
massive sculpture made of wood and diffused lighting through Plexiglas.

We've won two grants, totaling $2,500, to create a smaller prototype of Yuxa first. Below is a video of our proposal.
