OVERVIEW:
Motion Capture & Projection Sculpture

Yuxa is an interactive installation that my team, Brownian Motion, is building in 2018 and 2019. It is a light sculpture of two intertwining snakes that invite participants to bring the creatures to life.

By reacting to people's movements with mesmerizing visuals, lights, and sound, Yuxa encourages participants to explore and become creators of something visually stunning and unique.

the process

The installation is a motion capture  and  visual projection system that uses a Kinect to detect participants' motions.Through TouchDesigner software, their movements trigger mind-bending visuals that are projected onto three Plexiglas screens for a surreal, translucent effect.

Below are images of the CAD model I designed for my team. (Scroll to the bottom for a video.)

upgrade & proposal

Back in 2017, Brownian Motion built the initial prototype called Lumokinesis, which used a Kinect, projection screen, and stage.
This year, we wanted the experience to be even more immersive, so we created the first version of Yuxa in June 2018. Next year, we want to transform the stage into a massive sculpture made of wood and diffused lighting through Plexiglas.

Below is a video of our proposal.
